Sharing pictures of WW2 in Malaysia and Singapore.




For this entry, I would like to share pictures which some of them are found to be rare seen on any documentaries whether the written or movie documentaries. I got all this pictures from one person on Facebook. You can click here to add him zafrani.arifin if you have facebook account.

One more thing these pictures are only about the World War Two in Malaysia and Singapore.

A British Hawker Hurricane fighter crashed down due to dogfight against Japs Air Force fighter plane. The location probably in Singapore because this plane arrived pretty late in January 1942.
British Brewster Buffalo fighters were machine gunned and bombed by the Japanese Air Force fighters during the Malayan campaign December 1941-February 1942. Probably in Singapore or Malaysia.

PBY Catalina used as recce plane to spot enemy movement and report back to HQ. Actually the first casualty in WW2 took place in off-Kota Bharu on 8 December 1941 when this plane was spotted by the Japs fighters and shot down. Not in Pearl Harbor,Hawaii USA. The plane was a Catalina Mk II, RAF serial W8417, and coded FV-W in No. 205 Flying Boat Squadron, Royal Air Force.

The HMS Prince Of Wales (Royal Navy) departed from the Singapore Naval Base to stop the advancing Japanese fleet.


The moment where the Japanese Mitsubishi G4M 'Betty' bomber airplane crewmen and pilot spotted the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse off-Kuantan water in Malaysia.
The HMS Repulse and HMS Prince of Wales spotted from above (bottom of this picture). It looked like doing some maneuvering zig-zag to prevent hit by Japanese fighters and torpedo bombers attack. However in the end, the ship sank after hit by few direct bombs and torpedoes along with the HMS Prince of Wales. The location is off-Kuantan water in Malaysia early 1942.

Japanese soldiers captured many British equipment and tools including these Bren-gun carriers. they used them to transport their troops into the battle zones or even for road patrol.

The Japanese artillery crewmen are working very hard to move their artillery gun towards the suitable position to fire on the enemy's position. This picture was taken somewhere in the rubber estate in Malaysia 1941-1942.
The Japanese troops are advancing on pontoon bridge which made of only few woods and the Japanese soldiers themselves (probably engineer regiment). This picture probably taken somewhere in Malaysia during the battle 1941-1942. By doing this, Japanese troops able to move their soldiers very quick and in some cases able to flank out and block the British troops.
A Royal Engineer army (British soldier or Indian British soldier) is placing some explosives to blow up the bridge as an effort to slow down the quick advancing Japanese troops. This picture was said to be taken at the Seremban bridge in Negeri Sembilan probably early January 1942.

The picture was taken at the Pengkalan Chepa airfield in Kota Bharu. The gun was actually the British anti aircraft gun captured by the Japanese troops during the battle of Kota Bharu on 8-9 December 1941. Back there were  the Japanese fighter planes.
Japanese troops took a very huge risk by moving their transport and troops at narrow roads near hillsides during the Malaya campaign December 1941- February 1942.

Fierce fight took place near the Singapore city during the Singapore campaign on February 1942. The picture showed the Japanese infantry men and the Japanese light tank.

Because of war, many British people left their belongings including these cars in Singapore and several major towns in Malaysia.
